Hillsborough SQL User Group

Welcome to the Hillsborough SQL Server Chapter

The Hillsborough SQL User Group is interested in sharing information about Microsoft SQL Server and related topics.  The meetings are free to all who wish to attend.  Food and drinks will be served at most meetings.

We meet at the Corporate Center I at 6:30pm on the last Thursday of every month except November and December. Food usually arrives at 6:00pm to allow networking until the meeting starts at 6:30pm.  The address is 2202 North Westshore Boulevard, Suite 122, Tampa, FL.

Parking is available at the west entrance (airport side).  Please follow the Visitor parking signs past the garage and around the fountain.

Food and drinks will be provided.  Food will arrive at 6:00 pm and the meeting start at 6:30 pm.  Also, plan to join us at Kona Grille for the meeting after the meeting for more networking.

Session Summary: IT and database professionals will have to focus on very different tasks as the transition to Cloud based solutions continues. Learn how a database administrator transitioned to supporting a planet-scale PaaS system in the Azure Cloud. Goal 1: Review common tasks and challenges frequently encountered supporting a PaaS system deployed across the globe in Microsoft Azure. Goal 2: Explain different monitoring and alerting scenarios for a planet-scale PaaS application using the Azure portal, Application Insights and other tools available on the market Goal 3: Demonstrate how to automate common deployment and maintenance tasks with PowerShell and Azure Automation

About Ron:
Ronald Dameron is The Only DBA at a small software company building planet-scale mobile resource management software. He has over 20 years IT experience on a variety of platforms. His current interests are Azure, PowerShell, SQL Server 2016 and Linux. He was a PASS Summit 2015 Speaker Idol contestant and has spoken at SQL Saturday Tampa, Orlando, South Florida, and the Tampa and Orlando SQL User groups. He has recently earned the Competent Communicator Award from Toastmasters International.
